Attendance Attendance will be taken daily for each hour of class. If a student finds it necessary to leave school early or arrive late, hours missed will count toward the total accumulated hours of absence for that month or program completion. Students who are habitually absent are subject to being counseled and are subject to disciplinary action that could result in being withdrawn from the program. Since attendance records are kept on a daily basis, a student may inquire about his or her hours at any time and are encouraged to do so. Students are market Present, Absent (Excused), Absent (Unexcused), or Tardy. If a student is sick or unable to attend class they are expected to call the center. This will be marked as an excused absence. With an excused absence the student may submit any work missed by the end of the next day without a grade penalty. If the students fails to contact FCC, this is considered an unexcused absence. The student will not be permitted to submit work missed and will receive a 0 for all graded assignments that day. Excessive absences, whether excused or unexcused, can be grounds for dismissal. When a student has missed 2 (two) consecutive days without calling the school, he/she will receive a call from an administrator to inform them that he/she will be absent. No explanation is necessary but a phone call will prevent the administration from contacting the student. Any student reporting 15 minutes or more late for a scheduled class will be considered tardy. If a student is tardy 3 (three) times to a class this will count as on hour of absence against them. Excessive absences are cause for dismissal of each quarter the previous quarter's absenteeism will be eliminated and the student will start out with zero hours. The Franklinton Career Center understands that instances may arise when a student needs to miss class but wants the students to understand that any days or hours missed will probably delay their progress and hamper advancement. Students can also have excused absences, for instance, an illness, jury duty, etc. This is at the discretion of the Director and documentation may need to be provided for it to be considered excused. Students who miss 25% of their scheduled classes will be dismissed from the program. Students are permitted to make up hours missed and are expected to compete all homework assignments that have been assigned. Any student may come in to the school, at a time they are not assigned to be there, to make up hours. When a student is making up hours they must be doing some form of class work (i.e. written homework, make-up tests, or other academic work). Students may also compile a "bank" of hours in preparation for vacations, bad weather, etc. These make-up hours will be deleted at the end of each program and the student will start out at zero for the next program (if enrolled). If a student's unexcused absences exceed three days per month, he or she will be reported to the VA (if applicable), which will interrupt the payment of benefits at that point. |
